What is this?

Departments are the business capabilities that perform work, such as Design, Procurement, Joinery, Paint, Installation, QA, or Engineering.

Why is it needed?

They provide the capacity foundation for future due date planning without defining a fixed project workflow.

How is it used later?

Later, project planning can use departments as suggested work areas. Planners can still adjust the actual sequence for each project.

Do not rename or remove template column headers.
Required columns: Department Code, Department Name, Default Sequence, Capacity Type.
Whole-number columns: Default Sequence.
Include by Default: use Yes or No.
Capacity Type: People (PEOPLE), Machine (MACHINE), Vendor (VENDOR), Purchase (PURCHASE), Other (OTHER).
